Medium of Instruction

With a long Anglo-Chinese tradition, St. Stephen's Girls' College has always used English as the primary teaching medium. To maintain this status quo, the school arranges a variety of language enhancement programmes to provide an environment conducive to learning in English. Students are offered numerous opportunities to develop and improve their English skills via exposure to activities such as after-school reading and creative writing courses, speaking groups, Readathon, Book Character Day, Amazing (Reading) Race, Shakespeare Experts, and an extensive range of English Society activities. Co-curricular activities include participation in the Model United Nations, World Scholars' Cup, Debate Team and Drama Team. The English-rich environment further extends to presentations and guest speakers at daily Assembly.

Gifted Education

Aware of students' individual differences in terms of their interests, talents and learning styles, the school promotes a culture of excellence and encourages respect for all achievements, be they academic, cultural or sporting. A whole school approach, along with assistance from the Diversified Learning Grant from the Education Bureau, is adopted to the ongoing support of students to ensure that they have an opportunity to extend their thinking, creativity, personal and social competencies and progress towards realising their full potential.
